Carlos Obeid is the Chief Financial Officer at Mubadala Development Company, having joined the company in January 2004. He was responsible for the organizational setup of Mubadala and now is in charge of Finance, Project and Corporate Finance, Planning and Development, Legal, Communications, Human Resources and Administration, and Management Information Systems.
Prior to joining Mubadala, Carlos was with the UAE Offsets Group for 10 years, where he led initiatives in privatizations, utilities and financial services. Carlos is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut (1986) and holds an MBA from INSEAD (1991).
John A. Buck founded The John Buck Company (“TJBC”) in 1981 and serves as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. In March 2008, The John Buck Company partnered with Mubadala Development Company to form John Buck International - an Abu Dhabi based firm specializing in integrated real estate services.
John oversees the operations of both companies and their comprehensive real estate services, including: development, financial services, corporate services, and asset management services for commercial, mixed-use, residential and retail properties throughout the world. John holds a BA from Notre Dame, a J.D from the University of Texas and a MBA from Wharton.
Throughout his career, John has served the community through numerous civic boards and committees. In addition to The John Buck Company Foundation, which focuses on at-risk children and families within the Chicago metro-area, John has served on the Metropolitan Planning Council, The Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, San Miguel Schools, and The Big Shoulders Fund.

John Thomas is the Executive Director of the Real Estate & Hospitality unit at Mubadala. Overseeing all domestic and international projects, and internal operations for the unit, John is responsible for developing and growing Mubadala’s domestic and international real estate and hospitality portfolio, primarily through specialized partnerships with world-class developers, operators, and service providers.
Prior to joining Mubadala in 2006, John practiced law as a corporate / commercial / projects lawyer first with Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Canada, and then Shearman and Sterling LLP in California. John holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa, Canada.

Rami Elwan is a Senior Manager at the Real Estate & Hospitality unit of Mubadala. Rami oversees several key projects at Mubadala including Sowwah Island, the core island of the Central Business District in Abu Dhabi. In this capacity, Rami leads the planning, conceptualization and development of real estate and major transportation and utilities infrastructure.
Prior to joining Mubadala, Rami worked in financial services in San Francisco, California, where he focused primarily on commercial lending to emerging venture-backed life sciences and technology companies. Rami holds a BSBA from Boston University in Boston, and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona.
Kevin Morgan joined The John Buck Company in 2002 and moved to Abu Dhabi in April 2007 to lead the structuring efforts for the John Buck International Joint Venture. In March 2008, Kevin became Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, responsible for long-term business strategy, growth and operational development. In June 2009, Kevin was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Kevin earned a double Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and International Business Administration from Miami University, and a minor in Economics from The London School of Business. Kevin received his Executive MBA from The University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
